If you are a Stranger Things fan, then I have a little bad news for you. You might have to wait longer than expected for the new and final season of the show. Earlier it was expected that the fifth season of Stranger Things would drop in 2025 but new comments from the Duffer Brothers suggest that the release window is far from certain. Here’s what we know so far about the Stranger Things Season 5 release date.
In a recent interview with Variety, Matt Duffer admitted that the release schedule for the series is still up in the air. “A lot of it hasn’t been decided, in terms of exactly the release dates and cadence,” he shared. “We’re getting on a call in a couple weeks about it. I just know it was very important for us and Netflix that we get it out this year. But even that is quite the push.”
This interview has now left fans curious and uncertain if the show will actually make it to screens in 2025. If the series does miss the deadline, it would mark a significant delay from the original timeline. The last season of the series aired in May 2022, and if a new season is not revealed this year then the gap is going to be too long before the final season. A three-and-a-half-year wait, or worse, a four-year wait, could frustrate fans, especially considering the cultural impact of the show.
Forbes reported that both Netflix and the Duffers are keen to avoid a delay, it’s clear that quality is a priority. After all, season 4 had to be split in two due to post-production delays, a move that was well-received but underscores the challenges of delivering a polished product.
We will keep you updated as and when we get more information about the release of the final season of Stranger Things.
