Season 2 of the popular South Korean show Squid Games was recently released. The plot was so gripping that now fans cannot wait for the next season. But they are in for good news, as they will not have to wait for Season 3 as long as they did for Season 2. How do we know that? Netflix itself told us that. A couple of days back, Netflix Korea seemingly leaked the release date for the next season by mistake.
A teaser video for Season 3 which was shared by Netflix Korea’s official YouTube channel briefly revealed a premiere date of June 27, 2025. It is believed that the release date was revealed by mistake and hence the video was quickly taken down.
The teaser also revealed something that we can expect from Season 3. The teaser featured Young-hee, the eerie robot from the iconic Red Light, Green Light game. She was placed alongside a new character, Chul-soo, in a mysterious setting. The clip mirrors the post-credit scene from Season 2. Fans speculate that a new deadly game can be introduced in Season 3.
Once this video was posted online, a fan shared their excitement on social media. One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, “Netflix accidentally reveals that the final season of ‘SQUID GAME’ releases on June 27! OMG!” Another shared, “GUYS, the comment says Squid Game Season 3 will release on June 27. The video was deleted, but we saw it!”
However, Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk said that even though the next installment of Squid Games is being referred to as Season 3, it is more accurately the second part of Season 2.
Another exciting news that was surfacing online was that the next installment of Season 3 is that Leonardo DiCaprio can make a cameo. However, Netflix quickly denied these rumors, stating, “We’ve also heard about Leonardo DiCaprio’s appearance, but it’s not true.”
