When Squid Game was first released, it was something that people had not seen earlier and it was a massive success. The first season became so popular that it also inspired the Netflix reality spin-off Squid Game: The Challenge. It gained over 224 million hours watched in just three weeks.
Counting on that, Squid Game is returning for another season. Season 2 of the popular Netflix series will premiere on December 26, 2024. The Korean survival drama will continue its gripping narrative with new twists, an expanded cast, and darker storylines.
Squid Game Season 2 takes place three years after Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) won the deadly games. He is now determined to take revenge and Gi-hun reenters the competition with a mission: to dismantle the sinister operation. He wants to save the new participants from meeting the same end as the previous lot.
The trailer shows a tense standoff between Gi-hun, now known as Player 456, and the mysterious Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-joon), the detective presumed dead in Season 1 will also return this season. The storyline promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.
The cast will include Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo. We will also see new actors like Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, and Park Sung-hoon this season.
Netflix has confirmed that Squid Game will be renewed for another season. However, it isn’t the best news. The streaming giant shared that the popular South Korean survival show will conclude with a third and final season. It is expected to drop in 2025 itself.
