Netflix has announced the live-action Scooby-Doo series

The upcoming live-action series will explore the origins of Mystery Inc., showing fans how Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, Fred, and Scooby-Doo first came together.

Netflix has been investing in live-action versions of popular animated series, with recent successes like ONE PIECE, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Wednesday.

Scooby-Doo has been a beloved part of pop culture, entertaining generations with its mix of humour, mystery, and spooky adventures. Whether you grew up watching the classic cartoons or enjoyed the animated series, there’s no denying the franchise’s impact. Now, Netflix is bringing the iconic mystery-solving team to life with a new live-action series.

Let’s take a look at what we know so far about the live-action Scooby-Doo series.

Live-action Scooby-Doo series storyline

The upcoming live-action series will explore the origins of Mystery Inc., showing fans how Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, Fred, and Scooby-Doo first came together. The story is set during their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears, where Shaggy and Daphne find themselves caught in a mystery. A lonely Great Dane puppy—none other than Scooby-Doo—witnesses a supernatural murder, and the group must work together to uncover the truth.

Who’s behind the series?

The showrunners are Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg from Midnight Radio. The series will be executive produced by Rosenberg and Appelbaum, as well as Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman (via Berlanti Productions), and Andre Nemec and Jeff Pinkner (via Midnight Radio). 

“Josh and Scott and everyone at Midnight Radio have crafted a story that captures their amazing spirits and their genius creation,” Greg Berlanti said. “We are grateful to them and everyone at Warner and Netflix for the partnership in helping bring this iteration of Scooby-Doo to life!” 

Well, Netflix has a history of bringing beloved franchises to life with live-action adaptations. The platform has been investing in live-action versions of popular animated series, achieving success with titles like ONE PIECE, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Wednesday.

There’s no official release date of the live-action Scooby-Doo series yet.
