The Xiaomi Mi TV stick is probably the company’s worst kept secret. After being a part of the rumour mills for quite some time, the device is now official. As confirmed in the numerous leaks, the Mi TV Stick can play content in 1080p and looks just like a Fire TV Stick in its form factor. It comes with a remote control that looks just like the one we got with the Mi Box 4K (review). It has dedicated hotkeys for Netflix and Prime Videos. 2020 also marks the 10th anniversary of Xiaomi.
Coming to the specifications of the Mi TV Stick, it can play content in 1080p at 60fps just like the third-generation Chromecast available in India. It weighs a mere 28.5 grams. Under the hood, it has a Quad-core Cortex A53 CPU coupled with a Mali 450GPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. It has a microUSB port that can be used to power the device and it also comes with Bluetooth 4.2. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. It supports both Dolby Audio and DTS.
Since the device runs on the Android 9 TV platform, we can expect it to run just like the Mi Box 4K in India. It comes with the Google Assistant and Chromecast built-in.
The Mi TV Stick is priced at Euro 39.99 (Rs 3500 approx. directly converted).
In other streaming device news, it looks like Google is getting ready to launch the next-generation Chromecast codenamed Sabrina running Android TV and comes with remote control. You can read everything we know about Sabrina here.
