Airtel has launched a new set-top box that features recording by plugging in an external storage device such as a pen drive. Users can schedule the recording even via Internet or their smartphones. The set top box has been priced at Rs. 2,000 in India.
According to Airtel, users can view the recorded programs with a DVD like control of TV viewing that has features such as pause, slow-motion viewing, rewind and fast-forward. The company added customers can record on an external storage device of up-to 2 Terabytes and create an unlimited personal content library by using multiple storage devices for the recordings.
“The new standard definition (SD) set-to-box will allow customers to enjoy recording by just plugging-in an external storage device. Customers can record on an external storage device of up-to 2 terabytes and create an unlimited personal content library by using multiple storage devices for the recordings,” says Airtel in a release.
Airtel Digital TV has more than 8.5 million customers as on June 2013 and offers 373 channels. Customers can dial 1860 500 6500 or log on to http://www.airtel.in/digitaltv or SMS <SDPLUS> to 54325 to get the new SD Plus connection.
Earlier this year Airtel Digital TV had launched On Demand TV feature for users. The service allows users to download movies, videos, etc across a variety of genres including health & fitness, fashion & lifestyle, devotional, home & family etc. The service will be available across all HD and HD recorder set-top boxes.
