Airtel digital TV launches iKisaan – a rural interactive service
Airtel digital TV becomes the first DTH player in India to offer a rural interactive service with the launch of iKisaan. The interactive service, specially designed in Hindi, targets the rural population residing in states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand. The company says its digital TV customers in these states can get real time access to crop information, relevant agri-input prices of seeds and pesticides, weather information and localized farming advisory, all of which is specific to their district. Customers can avail these DTH services with no additional cost for the first month from launch.

The service is powered by Handygo and aggregates content from authentic repositories that provide authentic localised information on crop, agri-input prices and information on weather. Airtel says the launch of iKisaan is part of series of its interactive services portfolio. Airtel digital TV currently has 6 interactive services – iLearn, iNews, iDarshan, iGoodlife, iAstro and iKisaan. iLearn is priced @ INR 10/month, iDarshan @INR 15/month and iGoodlife @INR 10/month.
