Airtel Digital TV DTH launches On Demand TV
The service will work on all Airtel Digital TV HD and HD Recorder boxes, and need internet connectivity to allow video downloads.
Airtel has announced the launch of the On Demand TV feature on their Direct to Home (DTH) platform. The service allows users to download movies, videos and other content across various genres – fashion & lifestyle, health & fitness, home & family, devotional etc. Airtel says that the service will be available on all HD and HD recorder set-top boxes.
All existing and new customers of Airtel Digital TV HD can enjoy the service by just dialing 12150 (toll-free) to subscribe to the service. Customers can also SMS <VDO> to 54325 to receive a call back from customer care. HD-DVR users have to simply connect their set-top box to any broadband connection to enjoy popular videos.
While the service does not have any subscription charge, customers will be charged per video on a-la-carte basis at prices starting as low as Rs. 10 and an installation charge of Rs. 125 where applicable.
This feature launches soon after Airtel enabled the record on USB feature on the normal HD boxes, giving them the recorder capabilities to a certain extent.
At the time of writing this, you can buy a new Airtel Digital TV HD connection for Rs. 2,790 onwards and the HD Recorder for Rs. 6,440 onwards.
