Zomato is one of India’s leading food delivery platforms and it keeps on its toes in order to maintain that. It has launched a new feature to attract a new audience. Zomato has introduced a new feature called “Order Scheduling”. As the name suggests, this feature allows users to pre-plan and schedule their food deliveries ahead of time. Users get the luxury to plan in advance.

The feature was first tested in select cities with orders exceeding Rs 1,000. Now with a broader rollout, users can plan and schedule their meals at least 2 days prior to the actual date of delivery. Order Scheduling is currently available in 30 cities, this includes- Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Raipur, and Ahmedabad.

More than 35,000 partner restaurants are on board with Zomato for this. Zomato says that this feature brings in a lot more functionality and flexibility, especially for those who manage busy schedules or are planning for special occasions.

How to use the Order Scheduling feature?

To schedule your order, simply open the Zomato app and go to the “Schedule” section under the “All Restaurants” section in the Delivery tab. Post that, select your preferred delivery time and date. Zomato will then show you the list of restaurants that can deliver on your requested date. Users can then add items to their cart, and then a notification confirms that the order is scheduled. Zomato even allows users to cancel the scheduled order up to three hours before the chosen delivery time.

To ensure timely delivery, Zomato notifies restaurants ahead of the set delivery time. The company says it is working with restaurants that “consistently adhere to kitchen preparation times” to ensure on-time delivery. The actual practicality and quality of the service will only be known once people start using it regularly.
