Have you ever found yourself scrolling through lengthy YouTube videos, trying to find the most interesting parts? Well, soon, you might not have to! Google-owned YouTube is working on a clever new feature that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to guide you straight to the juiciest parts of any video. In a bid to enhance user experience, YouTube is testing out this innovative feature that aims to save you time and keep you engaged.
Let’s delve into how this upcoming AI feature could revolutionise the way we watch videos on YouTube.

According to the YouTube Creator technical team, the company is testing a new feature that will help you to skip to the best parts of videos using AI, reports Android Authority.

The new AI-powered feature is currently being tested and is available only to select YouTube Premium users in the US.
This feature uses AI and user watch behaviour data to anticipate and swiftly navigate to the sections that viewers are most interested in.
When you double-tap the screen to fast forward, a new button on eligible videos will instantly skip to the AI-predicted moment in the timeline.
Overall, YouTube’s implementation appears to be a smart strategy, providing an additional benefit for users to subscribe to Premium.
There’s currently no information about whether this feature will become a regular feature after testing, nor has the team addressed its availability for non-Premium users.
Nonetheless, it would be somewhat unexpected for an advertising-driven platform to offer non-paying users a means to bypass ad placements on videos for the sake of convenience. For the time being, the outcome of the test remains to be seen.
In my opinion, by quickly accessing the most engaging content, viewers are more likely to stay engaged with the video and the platform, leading to a more positive overall experience.
