Facebook is experimenting with a new news layout section on mobile with emphasis on multiple news sections

Facebook is in the process of testing a major re-haul to its mobile UI, with emphasis on news. Screenshots have appeared on Twitter, which suggest a new layout for the Facebook wall on the mobile platform. The new layout will pay extra attention to news, possibly to further promote Facebook's Instant Articles, which is about to be opened to all. The bottom of the apps interface will have sections such as World & US, Sports, Food, etc. However, it looks like the default setting will still be the news/wall as we see it on Facebook today. The new sections that will appear at the bottom of the screen can be accessed by simply tapping on it.

The company confirmed to Mashable that the new layout is currently being tested, but there is no information on whether the new layout will launch to the masses. A Facebook spokesperson told Mashable, "People have told us they’d like options to see more stories on Facebook around specific topics they’re interested in. So we have been testing a few feeds for people to view more and different stories from people and Pages based on topic areas."

The world's largest social network has evolved a lot since its inception. Initially, the “Wall” was a place where people could share their thoughts and views, then photos, and we have finally arrived at a UI where consumers can see live videos, 360-degree videos, news from publications they like to follow, so on and so forth. Do you think this new UI will be a move in the right direction?
