With iOS 11, Apple is discontinuing Facebook and Twitter integration into the OS and might fall back to using web login for apps and services
It seems like Apple is changing the way users login to Facebook and Twitter with iOS 11, which was unveiled at WWDC this year. With iOS 11, the Cupertino-based company is reportedly dropping support for Twitter and Facebook integration. Apple's iOS had the ability to sign into Facebook directly since 2012 and Twitter sign-in has been part of iOS since 2011.
Axios has learnt that Apple plans to treat Facebook and Twitter just like any other app available on the ecosystem with the launch of iOS 11. Apple seems to be doing away with the system-level integration for social networking apps. As observed by venture capitalist Sean Cook, the developer beta of iOS 11 confirms that "Social accounts have been removed from Settings in iOS11. Third-party apps no longer have access to those signed-in accounts."

Considering the ease of access available with Facebook or Twitter login for apps, the dropping of support may become a little troublesome for some users. Without system level integration, Apple's iOS will resemble the mechanism available on Android and other ecosystems. The service will most probably fall back to web login for social media login on apps.
Apple is also hosting a developer session called "Password Autofill for Apps", which could be the future of logging into apps with social media accounts. The feature is expected to work in a manner similar to password management apps like LastPass and offer easier access to apps. Apple is yet to offer a reason why it is dropping support for social accounts from settings in iOS 11.
