WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms, and to keep up with that, it keeps on launching new features. According to reports, the Meta-owned messaging platform is working on a new Voice Mode feature for its in-app artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Meta AI.

When this new AI feature rolls out, you will be able to engage in two-way voice conversations with the chatbot. So in simple terms, you’re chatting with AI on WhatsApp. As per WABetaInfo, the Voice Mode feature was recently spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.18.18.

We are not sure if WhatsApp will launch this feature any time soon, the company has been tight-lipped about it. If we go by media reports, the feature is still under development and is not visible in the current beta version of the app. If you are a part of the Google Beta Programme, then you will not be able to access it just yet.

The screenshots which were shared by WABetaInfo reveal the interface of the Voice Mode feature. If you click on the Meta AI button above the New Chat icon and long-press it, you can activate the Voice Mode. Additionally, you can even access a hands-free mode by tapping on the waveform icon located next to the text field in the Meta AI chat.

Further, the screenshots also show a bottom sheet displaying the Meta AI Voice Mode interface. There is a circular aura icon indicating the active voice mode, along with options for speaker, mute, and disconnecting from the voice mode.

When the feature launches, the Voice Mode can have ten different voices, offering variations in accents, tonalities, and possibly genders. But we still don’t know if it will include different languages or not.
