WhatsApp will soon let you login through email: Here’s how
WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to log into their WhatsApp account through their email.
Users will still have the option to log into WhatsApp using the default method, which involves requesting a 6-digit code via SMS.
The new email address feature is currently being tested on Android and iOS.
Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to log into their WhatsApp account through their email. This upcoming feature is expected to offer users a convenient alternative login method while enhancing security and ease of access to their WhatsApp accounts.
According to a known WhatsApp tipster publication, WaBetaInfo, the messaging platform is rolling out a new feature to some beta testers on Android and iOS, which will allow them to associate an email address with their account.

Beta users will see a new addition to their account settings called “Email address.” Within this section, users will be able to link an email address to their WhatsApp account.

The email address feature will serve as a useful backup, especially for situations where users might temporarily lose access to their registered phone number or encounter difficulties in receiving SMS messages.
However, it’s important to note that users will still have the option to log into WhatsApp using the default method, which involves requesting a 6-digit code via SMS.
While linking an email address to a WhatsApp account will introduce an extra login method, users will still be required to have a phone number to create a new account. Furthermore, this feature will be entirely optional, so the decision to enable it will depend entirely on the user.
In our opinion, the new feature aims to improve the user experience and account security on WhatsApp by giving users more options for accessing their accounts and recovering them if needed.
Recently, WhatsApp announced passkey support on Android. Passkeys on WhatsApp are a new, highly secure method for Android users to regain access to their accounts. Passkeys on WhatsApp allow users to sign in to their accounts the same way they unlock their devices: with a fingerprint, a face scan or a PIN.
