Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new group chat events feature. This feature is expected to allow users to create events for the group chats. It will be available in a future update of the Android app, as per the report.
According to a report by a known WhatsApp tipster publication, WaBetaInfo, the messaging platform is working on a group chat events feature. With this feature, users will likely be able to create events with a specific name.

This new feature is expected to allow users to create events in a conversation by specifying a name and setting their preferred notification time. This feature will likely be helpful for scheduling and organising activities in group chats or managing personal reminders efficiently.
These message events are expected to be end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only participants in the conversation have access to them.
Additionally, it looks like this feature might only be available for community group chats.
Once an event is created, it will likely be added to the conversation automatically. Also, in order for everyone to see and accept the new group invite event, WhatsApp must be updated to the most recent version, the report said.
With this new feature, users will likely have the convenience of easily planning and organising events right within their conversations. Users might be able to easily create an event with all details, including the event’s name, date, time and location.
Moreover, this feature can be seen as an integrated reminder system, allowing users to schedule event reminders. This ensures that all members of the group will receive notifications at the specified time, preventing them from missing important events or appointments.
