According to the report, the introduction of this feature is essential because many users complain about the new Updates tab. Currently, finding a specific contact’s status update is a difficult task as the search function was removed in the latest tab update. Thankfully, WhatsApp appears to be responsive to user feedback, and they will be reinstating the search option in the new Updates tab.
Additionally, this update will likely enable users to search for followed channels, which is particularly beneficial for those who follow numerous channels, as it simplifies the process of locating a particular channel.
For those who are unaware, Meta recently launched the WhatsApp Channels feature in India which is a one-way broadcast tool for admins to send text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. For WhatsApp Channels, the company introduced the new Updates tab. Under this tab, users will find Status and channels they choose to follow– separate from their chats with family, friends, and communities.
It’s worth noting that following a channel won’t reveal your phone number to the admin or other followers. Who you decide to follow is your choice and it’s private.
