WhatsApp for Web has reportedly been updated with new features like Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode and private replies. According to WABetaInfo, the new features are currently rolling out for WhatsApp Web version 2.7315. Additionally, WhatsApp for Android could soon be updated with a slew of new features like tap to unblock, shake to report, and an invite via link shortcut.
The new PiP mode in WhatsApp for Web will allow users to continue texting while attending a video call. There will be a new icon within the video call window, which allows a user to enter PiP mode while receiving a video call. The PiP video window can also be resized. \
According to the report, the web version will also come with a private replies feature. With this feature, users can reply to a particular group member privately within the WhatsApp group. Only the intended recipient will receive the message and it will be hidden to other group members. WABetaInfo says that long pressing the reply option in a group chat opens up a window where a ‘Reply privately’ option is listed.
Additionally, WhatsApp has added a new feature to its Android beta version which allows a user to simply tap on a contact name to unblock them. There is also an ‘Invite via Link’ feature in the group info section which is visible only to group admins. The invite option is already available for iOS users.
Finally, users can expect a shake to report feature in the upcoming WhatsApp update. The new feature will allow users to report problems by shaking the device, which will open the Contact Us section in the app. As per the report, the feature is available in the WhatsApp beta version number 2.17.437.
