Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly testing a privacy call relay feature. This feature is expected to allow users to protect their IP address during calls. This feature is currently rolling out to some beta testers on Android and iOS.
According to a known WhatsApp tipster publication, WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is rolling out a new feature that protects your IP address during calls, making it more difficult for malicious actors to determine your location.

For the new feature, WhatsApp is expected to add a new section called “Advanced” within the privacy settings screen. This section will likely contain the new “Protect IP address in calls” option.

It’s important to note that the call quality might be slightly impacted by the privacy call relay feature because of the encryption and routing procedures of your connection during a call through WhatsApp servers.
This feature will likely make it much more difficult for anyone to monitor private information, making it very helpful against any potential attempts to track your place and IP address, especially while you’re on a WhatsApp call with unknown contacts.
This additional security layer ensures the preservation of your privacy, despite the potential for a little drop in call quality.
Recently, it was reported that WhatsApp had started working on a new group chat events feature. This feature is expected to allow users to create events for the group chats. This feature will likely be helpful for scheduling and organising activities in group chats or managing personal reminders efficiently. Users might be able to create an event with all details, including the event’s name, date, time and location. These message events are expected to be end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only participants in the conversation have access to them. Once an event is created, it will likely be added to the conversation automatically.
