Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly testing a YouTube-like video skip feature. This feature is expected to allow users to skip forward and backward videos, allowing them to quickly access the most important parts of a video.
According to a known WhatsApp tipster publication, WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is rolling out a feature to skip forward and backward videos to some beta testers on Android.

This feature will work similar to how it works on YouTube, making it familiar for users.
The introduction of the new video skip feature will allow users to conveniently navigate through the videos they send or receive. This means that users will be able to skip forward to quickly access the most important parts of a video or rewind to rewatch a segment they might have missed, all without needing to rely on the progress bar.
This feature will not only save time but will also improve the ease of content navigation. This functionality will introduce a level of convenience that was not previously available on WhatsApp, making it simpler for users to engage with and explore video content shared on the platform.
Recently, WhatsApp announced passkey support on Android. Passkeys on WhatsApp are a new, highly secure method for Android users to regain access to their accounts. Passkeys on WhatsApp allow users to sign in to their accounts the same way they unlock their devices: with a fingerprint, a face scan or a PIN. This feature aims to enhance user security and simplify the authentication process within the popular messaging app. Currently, there is no confirmation regarding passkey support for iPhones.
