Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly testing a YouTube-like video skip feature. This feature is expected to allow users to skip forward and backward videos, allowing them to quickly access the most important parts of a video.
According to a known WhatsApp tipster publication, WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is rolling out a feature to skip forward and backward videos to some beta testers on Android.

With this feature, users will be able to skip forward and backward videos by double-tapping the left or right side of the screen.

This feature will work similar to how it works on YouTube, making it familiar for users.
The introduction of the new video skip feature will allow users to conveniently navigate through the videos they send or receive. This means that users will be able to skip forward to quickly access the most important parts of a video or rewind to rewatch a segment they might have missed, all without needing to rely on the progress bar.
