Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly testing a pinned messages feature. With this feature, users will likely be able to pin a message to the top of their chat conversations. It is currently being tested on Android, as per the report.

According to a report by a known WhatsApp tipster publication, WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is rolling out a pinned messages feature to a limited number of beta testers on Android.

After installing the latest update of the app, users might be able to see a new pin action within the message options. It is expected to allow users to pin a message to the top of the conversation. This will likely make it easier for users to highlight and access important or frequently referenced messages by keeping them at the top of the chat.

Moreover, some beta testers might also see a redesigned chat attachment menu that features a new modern style. Please note that these features are currently in a beta testing phase and might not be available to all users right away.

Users are also expected to have the ability to control how long a message stays at the top of their chat. There might be three options to choose from: 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days. Additionally, users could unpin a message at any time, even before the chosen duration expires.

“In our opinion, WhatsApp further highlights their commitment to providing people with a modern and user-friendly interface thanks to the new redesigned chat attachment menu,” the report said.

WhatsApp is also reportedly working on new text formatting tools. The new tools are expected to be Code block, Quote block and Lists. These tools will likely come in a future update of the Android app.
