Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly testing a message reaction filtering feature for channels. This feature will help channel admins to see which of their contacts have reacted to channel updates.
According to a known WhatsApp tipster publication, WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is rolling out a message reaction filtering feature for channels to some beta testers on Android.

Beta users will now see a new filter when viewing the reaction list for channel updates. With the new feature, channel admins can filter reactions to see reactions only from their contacts.

This new message reaction filtering feature will help channel admins to better understand which updates capture the attention of their contacts.
Also, channel admins will be able to discover which content connects most effectively with their audience and contacts, allowing them to modify their channel strategy accordingly.
It’s important to note that the new feature will only be available for channel admins. This means that if someone is following the same channel as you, you won’t have the ability to see their reactions to channel updates, as this action is kept private, and only channel administrators have the privilege to see them.
For those who are unaware, WhatsApp Channels were launched in India last month. Channels are a one-way broadcast tool for admins to send text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. In WhatsApp Channels, users can react using emojis to give feedback and see a count of total reactions. Also, whenever users forward an Update to chats or groups it will include a link back to the channel so that people can find out more.
It’s worth noting that following a channel won’t reveal your phone number to the admin or other followers. Who you decide to follow is your choice and it’s private.
