WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to make their own AI chatbots. As per the reports, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform has added a new feature with the new beta version for Android. The feature will allow users to design and personalise their own AI-backed chatbots within the application.
It seems that WhatsApp is integrating the feature within the app from Instagram’s personal area in order to offer a better user experience to the users. With this new feature, the users will be able to create their own AI companions quickly and easily.
Users only need to provide detailed descriptions of AI personalities, as well as their purpose, objectives, and distinguishing characteristics. For example, users will be able to select whether the AI companion will focus on productivity, entertainment, or personal assistance. Users can also provide useful suggestions, such as pre-set templates or examples of popular AI profiles, to help others get started.

However, the description will play an important role in shaping the AI interaction. The tech giant will tailor AI behavior based on user input, allowing them to perform specific tasks such as motivating them during a workout session or managing tight deadlines.
It’s worth noting that the tech giant has made no official announcement about the feature or its release date. But it appears that WhatsApp is now also participating in the AI race. This update comes after a dedicated tab for AI tools was discovered in the previous WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.25.1.24 release. This tab allows users to easily explore and interact with the new AI bots.
There is no confirmed timeline for when the feature will be available to the public, but we anticipate it will be available to users in the coming months.
