WhatsApp has been developing a variety of features to enhance the overall user experience. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform is reportedly developing a feature that will allow users to share music from Spotify directly in their Status updates. According to reports, the feature is currently available in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.3 and is being developed for iOS users.

After the feature goes public, users will notice a new Status option in the Spotify app’s share menu. After tapping, they will be able to post a WhatsApp status update without manually copying and pasting the links. According to the report, the update will include a song preview complete with track title, artist name, and album cover, as well as a shortcut to open the song on Spotify.

“When this feature is released in a future update, users will find a new “Status” button in the share sheet of the Spotify app. This shortcut will allow them to quickly post a song as a WhatsApp status update, eliminating the need for manual forwarding, copying, and pasting of links,” the report added.

Similar to Instagram Stories, which allows users to share music, the company’s new feature aims to simplify the process of recommending tracks to friends and contacts with a one-tap music sharing experience.

WhatsApp has also ensured that status updates with shared music are protected by end-to-end encryption. This means that only the intended recipients will be able to view the shared tracks, ensuring that user activity remains private from WhatsApp and third parties.

According to reports, the feature is currently in development and will be available in an upcoming update for both Android and iOS users. It’s worth noting that Meta hasn’t provided an official launch timeline. However, we anticipate that the feature will be released in the coming weeks alongside the new updates, following refinements in future beta releases.
