The WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.18.0.72 update gains a new feature, and the profile photos of group participants will showcase within their groups when they drop a message. In addition, if the group member doesn't have a profile picture or is unavailable due to their privacy settings, the default profile icon will show up and be tinted by using the same color as the contact name. However, as the feature is currently under development, users who have already downloaded the update might not see the feature because it is still not available for beta testers.
The update is simply a cosmetic addition, but it may be helpful to immediately recognize who sent the message in case their phone number is not in your contacts or have a duplicate contact. This feature is under development, and WhatsApp has not announced when it will be released to users.
WhatsApp also plans to introduce such profile icons next to message bubbles in a future update of the iOS beta app. The feature is still under development on WhatsApp beta for iOS.
WABetaInfo tweeted, "WhatsApp is working on introducing profile photos within groups! A future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta will introduce profile photos of group members next to chat bubbles."
