WhatsApp is all set to roll out its newest feature – sharing contact cards using the desktop application. As of now, this feature has been made available to those with the WhatsApp Desktop Beta version and is expected to roll out to all customers sometime soon.
WhatsApp’s new contact card sharing feature allows users to share contact cards using the desktop version of the application. This is a feature that is already available on the smartphone app (and a pretty basic necessity) and is now being made available to those who use the global chat app on their computers.
On enabling the feature, users will be able to see a new entry point labeled ‘Contacts’. This will enable them to share contact details with other users on the chat thread. On receiving the contact card, the recipient can immediately add the same to their address book.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature is available to beta users who have downloaded the Windows 2.2247.2.0 update.
WhatsApp has been in the news lately for rolling out new features like allowing users to create polls in group chats and displaying the contacts bar on the WhatsApp Desktop application. There are speculations that WhatsApp will soon let users make calls using their desktop application too.
This would mark the application’s foray into the desktop calling space to compete with the likes of Zoom, Google Meets, and Microsoft Teams. It can spell great news for working professionals who rely on Whatsapp for most of their communications.
