WhatsApp hit with ‘obsolete’ error, here’s how you can fix it
WhatsApp users in India are reporting the app is faced by a bug that prevents access from 13th January.
WhatsApp users across the country are reportedly facing a new bug that made the instant messaging app “obsolete” since midnight, 13 January. People started reported the issue on social media and has caught the attention of the Facebook-owned app. WhatsApp has admitted to the problem and said it is working on a fix.
The bug cropped up on certain devices exactly on 13th January midnight. Users reported that the app displayed the error message — “This version of WhatsApp became obsolete on 13 Jan 2018. Please go to the Google Playstore to download the latest version.”
The version became obsolete on 13 Jan 2018 and update the app. When I checked in Google play, it says app is updated. Then I re-installed the app, but same message is appearing. What is happening?#WhatsAppDown @XiaomiIndia @WhatsApp @xiaomi pic.twitter.com/OanFMv1sHP

Google Play states the app is up to date while re-installing the app also doesn’t help. The message also asks to “correct the device date settings and then restart WhatsApp.” The error seems to have appeared before as well.
Per a report by Techook, the issue seems to have largely affected Xiaomi phone. Users have thronged Twitter to complain about the bug. However, we had the app running on a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and there is no sign of the error message.
@WhatsApp in my phone old version says bacame obsolete and not workin! The new version fail to install and says: Not installed! web version shows me QR code to scan with phone that i can't possible to scan. The PC desktop version not supports windows XP? How can i use this app?!?

The bug also seems to have affected users who have subscribed to their Beta programe. The error message suggests “tap Leave Testing Program if you no longer wish to receive the WhatsApp testing notification.” However, it could just be an issue in the way the app was distributed to users. As WhatsApp has stated to Techook, “it was a problem with how our app is distributed, which is not under our control.”
Nevertheless, you can try going to Settings and enable the automatic date and time option, which is usually enabled by default. After that, clear the memory and then relaunch WhatsApp.
Otherwise, backup you content and uninstall the app, and install the latest version from WhatsApp’s website.
