WhatsApp Groups is going to gain new features that are likely to improve the group experience. This includes the increased authority of the group admin who now gets to approve who gets in the group and who doesn’t. Once you are part of the group and when you are on a group call, you will be able to mute or message directly to someone who is in that call. Here’s WhatsApp announcing the new feature:

Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp, said, “You can now mute or message specific people on a call (great if someone forgets to mute themselves!), and we've added a helpful indicator so you can more easily see when more people join large calls”.
That was for WhatsApp Group Calls.
Now, let’s understand the other newly spotted WhatsApp feature that’s reportedly in the works.
Going forward, whence you try joining a group, the request for the same could go to the group admin who can either approve or reject it. The admin will have to enable a toggle within group settings for this enhanced power.
The group admin will find all approval requests in a new section with group info.
As per WABetaInfo who leaked this upcoming WhatsApp feature, this will allow the group admin to better manage the quality of the group. Let’s see.
