WhatsApp now has channels like Telegram: Here’s all you need to know

Meta has been bringing in new updates to its different social media platforms and majorly WhatsApp. Now, again there's a new update for WhatsApp. So, Meta has introduced Telegram like WhatsApp Channels. These channels will help you get updates from people or organisations on the app itself.
These channels will majorly serve as broadcast tools. You can create WhatsApp channels on different topics. On the Channels text, photos, videos, stickers and polls can be shared.

WhatsApp Channels: what is it?
There will be a tab under the name of 'Updates' which will have the WhatsApp Channels. All the channels that you follow will be here for you to access
There will also be a search tool so that you can search and find the right channel based on your interests. Except for that you can also join channels through links shared with you.
Creation of WhatsApp channels isn't clear yet but there will be certain official ones as well. Some from the well known organisations like WHO, FC Barcelona and so on and they will definitely have a green tick beside their name.
WhatsApp Channels: Privacy
In order to maintain privacy on WhatsApp channels the admin and all the follower's phone number and profile picture will be hidden. But the only drawback is that channels won't be end-to-end encrypted like any regular chat.
