Highlights:
WhatsApp Business was announced for Android back in January and it is now available on businesses that use an iPhone. iOS users can now download the app from the Apple App Store and represent their business on the online chat app by connecting with users on the platform. The special version of the app is tailored for businesses and comes with additional features like setting a Business Profile. This enables sharing information about a business like a description, email or show address and website.
Additional messaging tools like quick reply, greeting messages and away messages are also available. Quick reply can be enabled to quickly answer FAQs or to set a greeting message for customers. Currently, the app will be available on the Apple App Store in Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, India, Mexico, the U.K. and the U.S. It will be rolled out around the world in the coming weeks. “Whether it's an online sweet shop in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil that closes 60 percent of its sales via WhatsApp Business or a cinnamon roll company in Tijuana, Mexico that credits WhatsApp Business for allowing it to open a second location, small business owners all over the world are using the app to grow. We're excited to bring the WhatsApp Business app to even more small businesses and hear new stories about how it's helping them succeed,” says WhatsApp in a press release.
While the WhatsApp Business app is now available more widely, the company has also been adding new features to its app for standard consumers. The General Elections 2019 will soon commence in India and ahead of the elections, Whatsapp has received some new privacy settings. A new group privacy setting and an invite system are now available that provide a user with more control over who can add them to a group.
