WhatsApp New Year wishes: The popular messaging platform WhatsApp has added a variety of new features including a new New Year calling effect, a sticker pack, and more for users across the globe to help users share their wishes in a unique way. Interestingly, these features will be available for a limited period of time, from December 20 to January 3, 2025. In order to get these features, the users are advised to install the latest version of the application.

Speaking of the features, the Meta-owned platform has introduced a new festive background for video calls along with new filters and effects inspired by the New Year. Not only that, the company has also added celebration emojis which can be used to react to the message in both individual and group chats. The platform will show a confetti animation to both the sender and receiver. Additionally, WhatsApp has introduced a new sticker pack and avatar stickers designed specifically for the New Year.

Previously, the company added new effects for video calls, such as puppy ears, a karaoke mic, and an underwater theme. The users now have over ten effects. Users can now select specific participants for group calls without disrupting the entire chat.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has also added typing indicators to let the users know about real-time engagement in the chats. The users will be able to see visual cues in the chats along with a profile picture of the user who’s typing in one-to-one as well as group conversations. The tech giant has also added voice message transcripts which help the users in offering a text-based transcription of the audio messages. However, the receiver will get a transcript of voice messages and not the sender. It is worth mentioning that the voice messages are generated on-device and no one else can hear or read the content, including the company itself.
