The new update brings the regular bug fixes and performance improvements as well. It also adds paid stickers from mobile which are now available for free exclusively on Viber Desktop.
According to a recent statement by the company, Viber now has over 200 million users globally and over 15 million users in India. The company recently rolled out a new update to its desktop and BlackBerry apps. The update adds the Viber sticker shop as well as a range of new features to the app. Users can now drag and drop images, support for video messages and photos and a seen status for read messages. The company has also improved the video calling feature for desktops. The new update adds support for Linux-based PCs. Viber app for BlackBerry platform brings Twitter integration and support for multiple emoticons.
Viber launched in 2010 lets the user send free messages and make calls to other Viber users globally. The app syncs your messages, contacts and call history with your smartphone. Viber competes with apps like Line, WeChat and Whatsapp. The company has now expanded into the desktop and tablet space to compete with Skype and traditional voice over internet players.
