HIGHLIGHTS

The new button provides an easy sharing option for users who wish to share tweets on Whatsapp.

Twitter's new update for its Android app has introduced a new dedicated WhatsApp share button that appears once you open an individual tweet. The button lets you directly share the tweet on WhatsApp.

The new WhatsApp share button on the Android app is placed at the bottom of a tweet, alongside with the existing share button which gives options to share on Gmail, mail, Google+, Facebook, BBM, Facebook Messenger and Skype. According to reports, Twitter has been testing the WhatsApp share button for some time now. The new feature is an effort by the micro blogging site to improve its user growth. WhatsApp which has over 500 million active users would definitely help Twitter gain more users. Twitter has been testing the feature on its Indian users where WhatsApp has over 50 million active monthly users.

Twitter is also testing "retweet with comment" feature that allows users to retweet a message as an image, which leaves the complete 140-characters available to the user to comment. Twitter had recently rolled out a similar feature that allowed users to embed tweets within new tweets and creates a new graphical presentation of the message instead of a messy URL. You can easily view the tweet by tapping on it.

Twitter has also launched animated GIF's for its desktop, Android and iOS platforms. The GIF's will not play automatically and users will have to press a play button accompanied with the GIF or just click on the tweet to view it.
