Twitter is fairly finicky about the media that is shared on the social networking platform. It had recently launched its own service for sharing pictures, pushing the likes of TwitPic and Yfrog to the fringes. Now, the same has been applied to videos shared on the network, in-line with the post.
Twitter had announced the purchase of the Vine development team back in October 2012. We’d covered speculation yesterday that the micro-blogging company would be launching the app soon. Now, the application has been released for the iPhone. The ‘Vine – Make a scene’ app for iOS will allow users to create quick videos and share to Twitter, and even Facebook (functionality reportedly coming soon), from within the application.
Unfortunately, there is a limitation to the Vine app, which will allow users to only record videos up to a maximum of 6 seconds. We are not very sure how successful this app will be, if most videos look like animated GIFs littered across the Internet!
In the meantime, if you want to check the Vine app out, you can download the ‘Vine – Make a scene’ app for free from the Apple App Store. No word still on the Android version.
