He asked employees to adopt or leave the company.

Reports suggest that a large number of Twitter employees have decided to leave.

After Twitter fired nearly half of its workforce, the remaining employees are voluntarily exiting the company. Per a Reuters report, hundreds of Twitter employees are speculated to have decided to leave the company after Elon Musk gave a Thursday deadline to sign up for "long hours at high intensity" or quit. Post his acquisition, Musk is rigorously changing the work culture at Twitter, emphasizing long work hours, intense pace and no rest days.

Twitter’s employees decide to leave as the company makes it compulsory to work 40 hours a week

The company has also decided to close its offices for a couple of days to avoid any employee mischief, leading people to think that the company is shutting down altogether. First, let's talk about the deadline that made staffers decide to leave the microblogging company. Musk recently wrote an email to Twitter's staff, telling them they would have to work 40 hours weekly.

The Twitter boss also gave employees an option to leave the company if they could not keep up with the new, hardcore work culture and declare their decision by Thursday. As mentioned in the report attached above, over 500 employees "wrote farewell messages" on the same day. Additionally, the publication has reviewed over 110 employees' decisions to leave the company in public Twitter posts.

A poll on the workplace app Blind, which verified Twitter employees with their professional email addresses, indicates that 42% of 180 respondents favour leaving the company. In comparison, 25% said they chose to stay at the company "reluctantly", and only 7% of participants said they wished to remain at Twitter. It is important to mention that the exact number of employees intending to leave the company is not clear at the moment.

The company has closed its offices temporarily

Among the employees who have decided to leave the company are those who fix bugs and prevent service outages, the report adds. Additionally, the Twitter app used by employees has already begun to slow down, while the number of public outage incidents rose from 50 to 350 on Thursday evening. Amid such a scenario, if the platform experiences a severe outage or breaks down, there might not be anyone to "fix things in many areas."

As mentioned earlier, Twitter Inc has also decided to close its offices for employees until November 21, 2022, per a BBC report. Although the company has not given any reason for closing the official premises, it is speculated that the offices remain closed to avoid the possibility of rogue staff causing harm to the Twitter servers, systems or infrastructure in any manner. At the same time, Musk has also ended remote work at the company.
