Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter has raised more questions than answers. The billionaire has already fired Twitter's board of directors and reduced its workforce to half. In the coming days, the tech mogul wants to release a Twitter Blue subscription with verification for all users, as it would generate a stream of revenue. However, since the original Twitter Blue subscription was not available in India, does that mean the new Twitter Blue with verification won't be available in India either? Let's find out.
Soon, Twitter Blue with verification will be available in five regions, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The details about the new Twitter Blue subscription came up with an iOS update for the app on the App Store.
The Twitter Blue subscription benefits include half the ads, giving users the ability to post longer videos and ranks their content in replies, mentions and searches. As mentioned in the App Store update notes, users' accounts will "get a blue checkmark, just like celebrities, companies, and politicians."
In response to a tweet from Prabhu that asked when the Twitter Blue subscription will come to India, Elon Musk replied, "hopefully, less than a month." As per the new CEO, Twitter India will release the Blue subscription sometime in November. Once the subscription is available in the country, users will be able to get a blue tick in their profile in exchange for a monthly subscription fee.
At the current conversion rate, Twitter Blue could cost Rs. 650 a month in India. However, Musk said earlier that the price would be adjusted as per the purchase parity in different countries. Although Rs. 650 a month could be steep for Indian users, Twitter Blue might do well in the country if it is priced below Rs. 499 a month.
