Truecaller has announced a software development kit (SDK) called TrueSDK. The kit will allow developers the option of letting users to sign up or login to their apps with their phone numbers. The feature is only available for Android apps, and the company has currently partnered with 12 companies who will introduce the feature into their apps. This includes Quikr, Mobikwik, redBus, CarDekho, BharatMatrimony.com, Ixigo, and more.

Nami Zarringhalam, co-founder and chief strategy officer of Truecaller said in a statement, “We realised the power and importance of a mobile number, especially when it comes to personal identification. Our aim is to empower third party apps with a credible verification option and enable users to use the app of their choice by making their phone numbers their identity.”

In November last year, Truecaller introduced a feature called Number Tagging on the Truecaller and Truedialer app for Android. The feature allowed users to tag a contact based on a range of categories like transportation, banking/finance, or drinks and nightlife. There were also reports that Facebook was working on a Truecaller-like feature, which would show information about who is calling and automatically block blacklisted numbers.
