HIGHLIGHTS

TikTok’s new Device Management feature helps users avoid misuse of their accounts.

This is the Thirteenth feature added to the app for user security.

Recovering from its recent India-wide ban, TikTok has been focusing on strengthening security and privacy features on its platform. The last TikTok update brought Safety Quiz, Digital Wellbeing, Screen Time Management and Restricted Mode features to the app, all seeking to improve the overall user experience on the app. TikTok is also legally obliged to keep its platform free of obscene and abusive content, which is the reason for these regular security updates.

Adding to its safety arsenal, TikTok has now introduced a new ‘Device Management’ feature in the app. The feature was hinted during the last update and is now available for the users. Device Management on TikTok lets users end sessions and remove their accounts from other devices from within the TikTok app to better manage the safety of their account and avoid misuse.

TikTok has released a series of updates with ‘Device Management’ being the Thirteenth security feature. The other recently introduced safety features include – age gate, restricted mode, screen time management, comments filter and safety centre. A series of educational videos in Hindi as well as English have been added to help understand those security features well.

TikTok caters almost 200 million users in India. Given the growing popularity of TikTok, its parent company ByteDance is reported to be working on a music streaming app for developing markets like India. The company has apparently secured rights from India’s top music labels T-Series and Times Music, in a bid to challenge the likes of Spotify, Apple Music, Jio-Saavn and Gaana.
