Swiggy, one of India’s leading on-demand convenience platforms, has introduced Swiggy UPI, a new feature aimed at enhancing the in-app payment experience for its users. With this launch, Swiggy integrates the National Payments Corporation of India’s (NPCI) UPI Plug-in solution, allowing users to make UPI transactions seamlessly without leaving the app. This innovation significantly reduces the payment process, cutting down the steps from five to just one.

Swiggy UPI is powered by Juspay’s HyperUPI Plugin, which streamlines the payment experience by removing the need for redirection to external UPI apps. As UPI transactions continue to soar in India—reaching approximately 131 billion transactions by April 2024, as highlighted by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman—NPCI is actively encouraging more platforms to adopt UPI services. Swiggy’s latest move aligns with this trend, promising to make transactions quicker and more efficient for users.

What is Swiggy UPI?

Swiggy UPI is a feature designed to simplify the payment process within the Swiggy app. By integrating the UPI Plug-in, Swiggy enables users to complete their payments directly through the app without needing to switch to third-party UPI applications. This enhancement is expected to provide a smoother and more efficient payment experience, reflecting the growing preference for UPI as a payment method in India.

How does Swiggy UPI work?

To start using Swiggy UPI, customers need to complete a one-time setup by linking their bank accounts through the app’s payment page and selecting Swiggy UPI. After this initial setup, users only need to enter their UPI PIN for each transaction, making the payment process both fast and secure. The feature’s in-house plug-in also provides immediate feedback on any issues, such as insufficient funds or incorrect credentials, ensuring that users can address these problems quickly and complete their payments successfully.

With this new feature, Swiggy aims to further enhance customer convenience and satisfaction, reflecting its commitment to providing a seamless user experience in an increasingly digital world.
