Recently the APAC AR Day event was held by Snap in Mumbai. During the event, Evan Spiegel, Snapchat’s Co-founder and CEO spoke about the growing engagement of creators, developers, and brands in the Indian Snapchat community. India accounts for more than 200 million Snapchat users. He enthusiastically spoke about India’s growing creativity and ongoing transformation.
Spiegel was highly impressed by the developer and creator community in India. He said, “We’re excited to be building the future with such incredible local talent,” during a fireside chat. He even mentioned how Snapchat is helping foster creativity in India.
Now coming to the augmented reality (AR) scene in India. Spiegel emphasised its significance in India. He mentioned how 95 percent of GenZ Indians prefer it for online shopping. And out of that, 73 percent feel that AR adds a more personal touch to their experiences.

Now that the festive season is just around the corner, Snapchat has plans for its 200 million users in India. The social media company is planning to release special Diwali-themed AR lenses. Speaking about this, Spiegel said that the youngsters in India are shaping its future and AR can prove to be a key player in this.
Further, Mohan emphasised on the amazing growth of the AR creator community within India. In addition to that, Snapchat plans on empowering the creator community in India and even offering ways of monetisation for them.

Keeping all this in mind, the event included expert speaker sessions that were hosted by expert speakers, attracting AR developers, creators, advertisers, brands, and content creators.
Snapchat could act as a key player in developing AR business in India as there are over 250 million daily engagements with AR on Snapchat? In reference to this, Spiegel also spoke about the launch of the Lens Creator Rewards program which rewards creators based on top-performing AR lenses on Snapchat.
