Samsung gets 3 month BBM exclusive from Friday; leaked app doesn’t work for everyone
HIGHLIGHTS

Samsung Nigeria confirmed this on Twitter.

Finally some movement on the Blackberry Messenger for Android bit. Samsung Nigeria has mentioned via Twitter that Samsung will get an exclusive 3 month period with the BlackBerry Messenger. Additionally, the tweet also mentions that the BBM version for Android will be available from Friday this week, 20th September 2013.

There is a .apk version of the version of BBM for Android doing rounds on the internet as well, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work for everyone. The application is currently working only for BlackBerry IDs that are whitelisted for beta testing.

BlackBerry released a statement confirming that. “The excitement around the upcoming launch of BBM for Android and iPhone users is amazing. We want to thank everyone for their enthusiasm, but wanted to let people know that the program is structured so that only those in the beta will be able to use the app. The version we’ve seen on the Web in the last couple of days can be downloaded, but will not work on devices that are not approved in the beta program.”

Without doubt, we are getting closer to the actual release date for the Android version of BBM, but there is still no clarity regarding the terms of the exclusivity period, and which countries this would be available in.

The BBM version for the iPhone has been pending approval for many weeks now, and there is no update regarding any progress on that front.
