Opera desktop browser adds tab preview feature, offers over 1000 extensions
With Opera 24 for Windows and Mac, released today, users can see a large preview of a webpage by hovering the mouse over a tab.
A new version of Opera browser for Windows, Mac and Linux offers more than 1000 extensions. The new version brings a preview feature, which provides a snapshot of the website running in a tab after hovering the mouse over it.
The new version also comes with a few user interface improvements. "Windows users with very dense displays can now enjoy a sharper-looking UI, similar to what Opera for Mac users get on Retina screens. With HiDPI support, the UI will – instead of being scaled – get the sharpness it deserves," says Opera in a press release.
The main highlight of the new update is the preview feature. Mr. Zhenis Beisekov, Product Manager at Opera Software, points out users feedback that suggested people who claim to have higher numbers of open tabs are less satisfied with their browsing experience.
He elaborated: “…We gathered the average number of tabs open during a 12-hour session on the statistics server, and it showed that 93% of people have fewer than 5 tabs open on average. However, we wanted to get broader input from users, so Thorben and the team reached out to our blog community to get some feedback from external users. And, one of the benefits of having 60,000 people reading your blog is that you get instant feedback – 5,000 responses in only a few hours. From this feedback, we got yet another picture – people who claim to have higher numbers of open tabs are less satisfied with their browsing experience."
Opera 24 for Windows and Mac is available for download via opera.com.
