If you’ve been hoping for ChatGPT to sound more human-like, your wait is finally over. OpenAI has started rolling out the much-awaited Advanced Voice feature for ChatGPT. This new mode is being made available to Plus and Team users, bringing a whole new level of natural conversation with the AI.

Over the next week, Plus and Team users will receive notifications in the app when Advanced Voice becomes available to them. But this update isn’t just about improving ChatGPT’s voice quality—it’s about making conversations feel more real. Powered by GPT-4’s native audio features, the Advanced Voice mode is designed to mimic real-time conversations, even picking up on subtle cues like how fast you’re speaking and responding with appropriate emotion. The goal is to create a more personal and engaging experience.

To enhance this experience, OpenAI is also adding five new voices—Vale, Spruce, Arbor, Maple, and Sol. These voices come with different accents and natural tones, offering a variety of conversational styles to choose from. You can now hear ChatGPT speak in over 50 languages, making this update truly global.

That said, there are some limitations. Unfortunately, users in the EU, UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein won’t have access to the Advanced Voice feature just yet. Moreover, OpenAI has placed daily usage limits on the number of audio inputs and outputs for Plus and Team users in regions where the feature is available.
