Launched in August this year, Ola Electric Scooters sold out shortly after being made available, clocking sales worth over 1,100 Crore. It’s clear that many Indians want to adopt a greener lifestyle, and an affordable offering within the clean tech space is certainly a great way to meet that need. To reassure customers of their purchase, Ola now lets buyers see the delivery status of their Ola bikes right on the Ola App itself. As the pandemic saw fewer people relying on on-demand cab services, this is a move that should help re-integrate the app and its usage into our lives once more.
Ola claims that all deliveries will happen in October itself, with the next round of sales opening on 1st November. This should give most green tech enthusiasts enough time to gauge the scooter’s performance and make purchase decisions accordingly.
The estimated delivery dates for individual orders are listed on the Ola app for customers to see.
Ola offered its first two offerings, S1 and S1 Pro earlier this year, with the former priced at Rs 85,099 – 1.10 Lakh, and the latter being priced at Rs 1,29,999. The vanilla Ola S1 model is priced Rs 30,000 higher than most scooters available in the market, but this vehicle offers a range of features like a large screen interface, short charging time (claimed to be just over four hours), remote boot opening, proximity lock/unlock, navigation and more. The Ola S1 Pro, on the other hand, has all this and also features a voice assistant, hill mode and cruise control.
Widespread adoption of electric scooters, coupled with the government’s target to replace all buses with electric ones by 2025, should help cut down on the pollution levels in India.
