New Amazon Prime Video policy limits TV streaming from January 2025: All you need to know
Amazon is changing its policy and is changing its terms of use.
Prime members will face a new restriction on how many TVs they can use under a single account.
Right now Prime members can stream on up to five devices without restrictions on device type.
If you’re a movie enthusiast and enjoy your binge-watch sessions, then you must have an Amazon Prime subscription. If not you, your friend must be having one and you would be riding a pillion or vice versa. But I have some news to share with you that you might not like. Amazon is changing its policy and is changing its terms of use. Beginning January 2025, Prime members will face a new restriction on how many TVs they can use under a single account.
Right now Prime members can stream on up to five devices without restrictions on device type. As per an official email which was sent out by Amazon, users will still be able to stream Prime Video on up to five devices. But the catch here is that out of the five devices, only two of these devices can be TVs. If you wish to add more TVs to your plan, then you will have to pick up a separate subscription.
Under the new terms, while TVs will face limitations, users can continue accessing content on smartphones, tablets, and laptops without additional charges. Amazon has also made it easy for users to manage their devices through the Prime Video settings page, where they can add or remove devices linked to their account. This was an issue earlier.
In its message to members, Amazon thanked users for their loyalty and highlighted the platform’s popular titles such as Mirzapur, Panchayat, Citadel, Stree 2, and Kalki 2898 AD. The company also teased a lineup of new shows and movies slated for release in 2025.
Let’s see how Amazon users take this. Previously we saw how users were disappointed with the “Rent” movie feature.
