#NetflixCrash began trending on X (formerly Twitter) soon after the outage in India.

A lot of users were waiting eagerly for the boxing match, Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. As fans waited with high hopes of great fun and entertainment, Netflix had some other plans. Just as users had started to tune in to catch the event in time, an outage affected Netflix, both the app and the website. And before such a big-scale event, you can only imagine the frustration people must have faced.

The outage affected viewers in both the US and India. Downdetector, a platform that tracks service outages, reported a peak of 95,324 disruptions in the US at 9:15 AM (IST) and 1,310 in India at 9:17 AM. In India, 86% of complaints were related to video streaming, 8% to the app, and 6% to the website. On the other hand, in the US 88% of users faced video streaming issues, 11% reported server connection problems, and 1% couldn’t even log in.

As you would expect, #NetflixCrash began trending on X (formerly Twitter) soon after the outage in India. People took to the micro-blogging platform to share their frustrations. Many were particularly upset over the timing of the crash and were not happy that it happened just before the boxing event was to take place at AT&T Stadium in Texas on November 16.

One user said, “Raise your hand if your Netflix is buffering/freezing/dropping.” Another tweet read, “Netflix is telling me to check my internet speed, knowing full well it’s an issue on their end.” A frustrated user wrote, “HOW THE ** WAS NETFLIX NOT PREPARED FOR THE SERVER LOAD?? They literally have a list of subscribers. The worst Live in sports entertainment history.”

The reason behind the outage is still not known and Netflix is yet to roll out an official statement on the matter.
