Following the launch of Threads, Meta received backlash for not offering users the option to delete their Threads account, forcing them to delete their Instagram account instead. Now, Meta is finally rolling out a feature that will allow users to delete their Threads profile without losing their Instagram account.
“We’re rolling out a way for you to delete your Threads profile separately from your Instagram account,” Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced on Threads.

During TechCrunch Disrupt held in September, Michel Protti, Meta’s chief privacy officer for product, announced the company’s intention to launch the capability to delete a Threads account by December.
Given Threads’ close integration with Instagram, Protti explained that Meta deliberated a lot about how to address deletion requests initially. He said that separating these two accounts at the app’s launch was technically challenging. As a result, the company initially implemented tools like deactivation and the option to set accounts to private as alternatives to account deletion.
There is also another feature that Meta is rolling out to Threads– a way for users to opt out of being featured outside Threads.
It’s important to note that these two new features are currently rolling out, so wait a little while if you haven’t received them yet.
Recently, Threads released two new features– polls and GIF– to enhance the user experience and engagement on the platform. As the name suggests, the polls feature allows users to add polls to their posts. Users can add up to four choices/options to the poll, and the voting will be open for 24 hours. On the other hand, with the GIF feature, users can add a GIF to their posts. However, there is a catch. Users can add only one GIF per post. Also, if they add a GIF, they won’t be able to add other media.
