With Android 12 featuring new design elements, Gmail has rolled out changes that directly impact the end users. These changes are purely aesthetic – this means you won’t have to relearn the way your Google apps function. The idea behind these changes is to create a more uniformed look across all your devices, allowing for greater customisation and standard graphics.
As stated earlier, Google’s Material You has focussed on making aesthetic changes to all Google apps to create a more standardised look across graphics. This means that you’ll now experience better legibility with Google’s Sans Text, see improvements in the floating action bubbles, and access updated navigation bars. As all these changes are a part of the Android 12 redesign, people using Google’s Pixel smartphones are amongst the first to experience them.
The rollout period is set for 15 days, with changes to Google Drive already visible. Material You changes to Google Meet will be in effect from September 19th, while changes to Google Calendar will be in effect from September 20th. The changes are available to all Google customers, including those who use G Suite and Google Workspace.
