JioTV app reportedly ahead of Airtel Xstream and Vodafone Play with 679 live TV channels
JioTV is said to offer a total of 679 live TV channels.
The number of channels on JioTV apparently increased due to SunNXT integration.
JioTV app was also recently updated with PiP and dark mode
With online media streaming platforms gaining popularity day by day, one can’t deny that standard cable TV is being left behind. However, with better availability and internet access, cable TV shows are now available for everyone online. Reliance Jio offers access to live TV online via the JioTV app, which is exclusively available for its customers and similarly, Airtel and Vodafone offer live TV services via Airtel Xstream and Vodafone Play, respectively. TelecomTalk reports that the JioTV app now offers 679 live TV channels to consume content from, which is notably higher than the 367 and 350 live TV channels that Airtel and Vodafone offer via the Airtel Xstream app and Vodafone Play, respectively.
Content from SunNXT was recently integrated with the JioCinema app, the report claims. This content integration apparently pushed the number of live channels to 679. The JioTV app also sorts TV channels in various categories such as Entertainment (125), Infotainment (38), Jio Darshan (8), Kids (32), Business News (7), Devotional (66), Educational (50), Lifestyle (17), Movies (62), Music (45), News (202), Shopping (1) and Sports (26). Additionally, Jio also offers its own TV channels like Jio Cricket 1 HD, Jio Cricket 2 HD, Jio Cricket 3 HD, Jio Cricket 4 HD, Jio Cricket English HD, Jio Bollywood Premium HD, JioCinema, JioCinema Action, JioCinema Comedy, Jio Telugu Hits HD and more.
Jio users get free access to the telcos’ entire suite of apps, which include JioTV JioNews, JioCinema and more. However, Vodafone and Airtel users that opt for certain recharge plans get uninterrupted access to their apps. The news of JioTV getting new live TV channels comes after the app was updated with dark mode. Users can now head over to the apps’ settings to turn on dark mode, which should place less strain on their eyes. In addition, a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode is also enabled for the app so that users can watch content even when the app is running in the background.
