IRCTC to launch a mobile app soon

Updated on 04-Jan-2012

After launching a mobile version of its website, the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is now planning to launch a mobile app for all the major operating systems. According to reports, the IRCTC mobile app is likely to be launched within a month. The IRCTC mobile app is likely to make rail ticket booking easier, giving users access to all the features available in the full web version of the IRCTC website. The mobile app will also accept credit card, debit card or cash cards for the payment.

The IRCTC mobile app will be additional to the three apps – Paymate, Ngpay and Atom – presently available for the rail ticket bookings. These three apps are accessible via all the mobile platforms including Android and Symbian. The IRCTC yesterday launched a mobile version of its website. The mobile site can be accessed via any mobile phone with active Internet connection. Users can access the mobile IRCTC with their existing IRCTC id and password.

After completion of booking process, users will receive a reservation message on their mobile phones. The message will have the full details of the ticket including PNR, Train no., date of journey and class. The text message can be used as valid ticket, as done with print out of e-ticket taken from the IRCTC website. However, you will need to carry your valid id-proof. Check out the new mobile IRCTC site here.
